Realme 14 Pro+: Is this Phone a Joke Innovation?
Share
The Realme 14 Pro Plus, often referred to as the “color-changing” phone, is the latest midrange offering from Realme. This device has the ability to change its color based on the surrounding environment, a feature that has sparked a trend online, with users testing it by placing the phone in ice and cold water.
Beyond its unique design, the Realme 14 Pro Plus presents a solid overall package within the INR 30,000 price range.
However, it is not without its flaws, certain aspects of the phone fall more in the B or B- category. Here is a detailed breakdown of its strengths, weaknesses, and everything in between, it’s quite an interesting device!
Realme 14 Pro+ Overview
a. Design (Color Changing Design)
Realme has introduced a color-changing design on this device by incorporating Thermochromic Pigments into the back panel. These pigments react to temperature changes, adopting Blue hues as the temperature drops.
When exposed to water below 16 degrees or placed against an ice pack, the Blue color appears noticeably darker.
However, over time, this feature may feel more like a gimmick. While initially intriguing, it may lose its appeal after a while.
That being said, the overall design of the phone is impressive. It offers a more premium and robust feel compared to its predecessor, the Realme 13 Pro Plus, or even Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus.
The device is MIL-STD-810H compliant, with Realme claiming it to be shock-resistant. As a result, accidental drops are unlikely to cause significant damage. Additionally, it comes with an extensive range of IP ratings—IP66, IP68, and IP69—making it the first Realme mid-range phone to offer such protection.
One drawback is the use of Gorilla Glass 7i instead of the stronger Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for screen protection.
However, aside from this, the phone stands out as one of the most premium-looking options within the INR 30,000 price range.
